Leadership Lessons
Military & Civilian Lessons from Grant
Examine how a clerk rose within 3 years to command the greatest army America every fielded. Using personal examples General Grant will outline his rise from a humble clerk to a four-star general. Challenges that led through Reconstruction, the General discusses his method for balancing military and civilian forces. Elected President in 1868, Grant took office ready to lead a nation he help save during the war. New challenges, new opponents and supporters, the new President overcame many obstacles to become a great leader.
Meet General Ulysses S. Grant
In first person, I present a fresh perspective of the life and times of General Ulysses S. Grant. Often misrepresented by historians, the audience is treated with details little known about the history of General Grant. Many myths are dismissed while new truths are presented.
Beginning with his early life, the audience follows Grant’s life through West Point, the Mexican War, marriage, to the conclusion of the Civil War.
With the Civil War the main focus of the presentation, many of the historical characters and their relationship to the general are discussed. Of special note, the relationship between President Lincoln and Grant is examined with a new look at the leaders of the Union.
All details, facts, and stories are historically correct and will shed new light on the top general in the Union army.

The life and marriage of Ulysses and Julia Grant are explored in this moving account of one of the premier couples of the 19th Century. Presented in first person, the audience follows the life of young Ulysses from his early life on the frontier, through West Point, courtship and marriage of Julia Dent, the Mexican War, the poverty years, to the end of the Civil War. Of special note, is their marriage...Ulysses comes from an abolitionist family, Julia from a southern plantation. Hear stories of how their marriage overcame all obstacles and lasted 37 years.

Julia Dent Grant
Wife, Mother, First Lady, Women's Rights Champion
Julia Dent Grant's life was anything but typical. Born on a plantation, Julia received the finest education afforded to young ladies at this time. She became skilled in sewing, French, music, dancing, singing, and other arts appropriate for ladies of the era. Julia's choice of husband, Ulysses Grant, opened a new world of travel, adventure, and paths that led to the White House and recognition from the world stage.
Presented in first person, enjoy a visit to the 19th Century and hear how a young lady rose to become one of the most influential women of her age. Heartwarming, romantic, adventurous, and intriguing, find out how Julia influenced a President, a country, and the world.
Julia Grant Presents Women's Fashions of the 1860's
What was a hoop skirt? What were the various layers that made clothing so interesting and elegant during these years? Meet Mrs. Ulysses S. Grant and discover the fashions of the 1860's, known as the era of the hoop skirt. Mrs. Grant presents a highly informative and interactive program using period correct clothing. Watch as she unravels the mystery of garments from this era.
Not to miss is your opportunity to participate in performing 1860 exercises, see first hand a reproduction of a period "gymnastic" outfit (copied from a periodical of that time). Hats, bonnets, corsets, and other garments are presented to demonstrate the accessories that were worn. Highly educational, entertaining, and downright fun, you will take a different look at Scarlet O'Hara the next time you see "Gone With The Wind."
An American Marriage
Two families, one strongly abolitionist. the other a Southern slave holding produced two of the most unique individuals in the 19th Century. Ulysses Grant's father was a strict abolitionist, while Julia Dent's father owned numerous slaves. Yet, these two met, fell in love, married and enjoyed 37 years of marriage. There was no obstacle they could not overcome and enjoyed each others companionship for decades. Tried by separation and war, they never lost their love for each other. This program focuses on their successful marriage in the 19th Century.
Campaigning With Grant
This program focuses on the campaigns of Ulysses Grant. From the Mexican War where Ulysses gained his experience in battle, the audience follows his unbroken string of victories in the American Civil War. Presented in first person, the audience learns the secrets of success that guided Ulysses Grant from West Point to General-in-Chief of the Union Army.
Grant was one of the few generals whose skill improved with increasing rank and responsibility. Take a new and fresh look at the Grant legacy in military history.
